Day 20 -> Day 26
Week four, we're able to paint! Front porch starts construction...

06/12/2004 - Will have to search our collective memories for what happened...I do recall that I picked up my new rack today, well not new, but second hand from one careful owner and at a price which would make any self respecting geek cry (it was LOADS cheaper than you'd think).

07/12/2004 - Will have to search our collective memories for what happened... We put the sealer (oil based - eeew, but needed for the wet areas) on the ensuite this evening, I've decided I don't like working with oil based paint as it's REAL smelly (Amanda ended up sleeping on the couch because she found it so bad) and just doesn't go on the walls like water-based stuff does <shrug> painting weirdness, whatchagonnado?
On the upside (for me, and only kinda) I'd had to get up at about 04:30 this morning so I was really tired when I got home on the 6pm flight and really really tired by the time I'd finished no more gapping and rolling everything at about 11pm so (he said to finish the overly long explanation as to why there was an upside) I was too tired to notice, and went out like a light.

08/12/2004 - Will have to search our collective memories for what happened... This evening Rob sanded down the filler that Amanda had put into all the nail holes, Amanda undercoated the architrave and painted the first coats throughout the ensuite while Rob stripped the window sills and tried to have an early night (given the big day at work he's got tomorrow).

09/12/2004 - The NEW bin (6m job) arrived this morning, Rob picked up the shower heads from LG Carders (to be fair, they arrived on the Monday afternoon but I was too busy to grab them on Tuesday).
Amanda put the final coat on the ensuite whilst dealing with Hadley who'd decided he wasn't feeling too well. I've been assigned the job of 'painting the office over the weekend' while Amanda catches up on her neglected summer school papers from Uni, so that's good, I've got every waking hour sorted between Friday evening and Sunday now (I love my TiVo, it's making the renovations much easier as I can watch my telly when it suits!).

The decking is going on today for the front porch and rather than choose 'invisible nailing' which allows more movement in the timber, we chose to get the boarding nailed visibly (given that it'll be painted), I just hope (for my type-a personalities sake) that the nail lines are perfectly straight, though, I'm told I'll be bogging the holes so I guess it may not matter ;).

Our architect Dean came by this morning as, upon putting his plans in to reality, it became apparent that we'd end up with a strange wee space next to the front steps which wouldn't even be suitable for a wee garden, so he's quickly wacked together a new design for the porch to allow for this space to be utilised.

10/12/2004 - Will have to search our collective memories for what happened... Tiler waterproofs floor, boys continue porch assembly, rob picks up castors for rack and starts office filling and sanding

11/12/2004 - Tile guy laid the tiles all day
Office - prep work took most of the day skirtings stripped, filled and sanded. Sealed with gib sealer which took me through until 12:05.
Amanda looked after the boys, did the shopping, liased with the tile guy and, painted half the porch after the tile guy left so we could still get in and out.

12/12/2004 - Stayed home from church as not feeling flash after my late night. Quick trip to Mitre 10 to grab some interior timber primer then back to paint the other half of the porch so it'd have a chance to dry while the family was out. Started back in the office and painted the timber I stripped yesterday, skirting, and by that stage, my parents had arrived with an offer of help, sent dad in to do the ceiling beams and I retreated to the ensuite to fill and sand the skirting, sills and fill the gaps and Amanda headed outside to strip the ensuite windows
The boys went to Takapuna beach with my Mum and Dad while Amanda and I carried on, I was back in the office putting on the first coat of ceiling white and Amanda sanded down the windows and did the first coat on the windows.
